Because really, what sums up the spirit of Christmas like a penguin with a handgun?

Little
Hashtag Funnies callback for you there.
Due to the miracle of advance-scheduled posting, I am off stuffing a Turkey right now... unless I've been like hit by a bus or something in the day or so between typing this and Christmas Day. God, that would be morbid, wouldn't it? Why am I being so morbid? It's Christmas, for God's sake.
Merry Christmas, everybody! I hope I don't get hit by a bus now.

Here, to strike terror into your hearts on this dark, icy, Christmas Eve... it's Vampire Santa!
Only one more door top open on the
Advent Calendar of Awesomeness! I am setting it to advance-post for tomorrow, so check back for that and the final, finished advent calendar.

Here's today's Santa! It's... Paul Erdős Santa!
This one's for
my Dad, who has an
Erdős number of
1. Yeah, that's right, you heard me.
1. I have provided illustrations for various of my Dad's books and lectures over the years, and so I have arbitrarily decided that this means I have an Erdős number of 2. If you have no idea what Erdős numbers are, there was a little piece on the subject on a recent episode of the wonderful podcast
Radiolab, or you can just, y'know,
look on wikipedia or something.
And to the 99.9% of regular readers of this blog who I have just completely baffled / alienated: it'll be mutant crabs or zombie pirate lizard-men or something again tomorrow, promise.

Hey, shall we open today's door on the
Advent Calendar of Awesomeness?
It's... Giant Robot Santa! I had a feeling he might show up.
Giant Robot Santa actually visited our house early this year, and brought with him the best Christmas present imaginable, which is the news that my comic
Mo-Bot High is going to be published in a collected edition in 2010 by David Fickling Books / Random House. To say I'm excited would be woefully inadequate - I'm doing everything I can to make sure this is the best-looking and most crammed-full-of-awesomeness book I can possibly manage.
More details in the new year! And another Santa tomorrow!

Here is today's extra-Old-School
Santa-of-the-Day!
Captain Winston Bulldog, star of
Jason Cobley's long-running UK small press comic Bulldog Adventure Magazine, and star of some of the first comics I ever drew. That did not involve binmen swearing, anyway.

Here's today's extra-autobiographical
Santa-of-the-Day!
This is the first one that feels authentically Christmassy to me.

If you are not feeling all warm and fuzzy and Christmassy yet, well... you might want to look away now, cause it's time for today's extra-adorable
Santa-of-the-Day!
I wasn't particularly happy with my previous attempt at
Toddler Santa. I wanted to draw one from life, but the only way I could get him to stay still long enough was sticking bleeding 'In The Night Garden' on, so here you go. A heartwarming festive view of the back of my kid's head.
Another Santa tomorrow!

He's making a list, he's checking it twice...This is our second Santa of 2009 to draw inspiration from the
works of Frank Miller, for no particular reason other than that they seem to make for funny Santas.
Just had a meeting about my SUPER-EXCITING TOTALLY AWESOME NEWS. It's on, it's happening, and I promise I will stop being so annoyingly coy about it very soon.

Are you feeling Christmassy yet? Well, if not, prepare to be punched in the face by sheer festivity, because it's time for today's

Hey, I fell a bit behind posting my
Santas-of-the-Day, so here's a catchup!
No. 12: Mr. Darcy Santa
"He finds the question of whether you've been naughty or nice to be frankly beneath his consideration."
No. 13: Santa Strange (Earth's Santa Supreme, Master of the Festive Arts)No. 14: HULK SANTANo. 15: Morris-Dancing SantaThat last one was requested by my Mum.
Just. Don't. Ask.

In other Santa-related news, you may remember Ninja Santa (above) from last year's
flurry of christmassy activity - anyway, he is currently endorsing the highly entertaining festive mashup exravaganza '
Ninja Christmas Megamix' by Snake Eyes.
Go have a listen, it's ace.

AND FINALLY, as a bonus extra Christmas present to the world in general,
James and I just released a new episode of our podcast,
Unified Review Theory, in which we review the concept of free will, Mario Kart Wii and the year 2009, all while playing videogames. Hilarity ensues! Well, a bit. Go check it out on the
URT blog, or heck, just have a listen here:

Gosh, what a long blog post. And that's without even mentioning my MASSIVE, UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME NEWS. Plenty of time for that.
Another Santa tomorrow!

Here is today's
Santa of the Day!

Today's Santa was suggested by my good friend James on twitter, who apparently has been watching Total Recall and requested "how about a Quatto Santa (peeking out of Jesus's belly?). OR 3-boob santa."
I went with what I thought seemed the less offensive option, although I'm wondering now whether I called that one right.
Another Santa tomorrow! Please nobody declare Catholic Jihad on me in the meantime.

"Put Captain Solo in the Sleigh".Today's Santa was suggested by
@the_wombat on twitter. If you'd like to suggest a Santa, please do so here in the comments or over on twitter, where I am
@neillcameron.
Only 15 to go! Gosh that makes me realise just how ludicrously much I've got to do before Christmas. (Besides drawing Santas, I mean).

Here's Wednesday's
Santa of the Day!
Today's Santa was requested by my friend Jenny, who has apparently been nursing a grudge since Hello Kitty suffered an unfortunate fate at the hands of Hagar the Horrible
earlier this year, and demanded REVENGE.
(Note for comics nerds: yes, my sketchblog now has it's own continuity! For reference purposes it will be referred to as Earth-Awesome.)

Here's Tuesday's
Santa-of-the-Day!
Santa Cthulhu was one I wanted to do last year and don't think I got round to. Requested as part of this year's Santathon by
@KDBryan and
@miss_s_b on Twitter - and, disturbingly, the latter's six-year-old daughter, who apparently is a big fan of the Lovecraft mythos.
Another Santa tomorrow, and every day till Christmas! It's like an advent calendar, see? Feel free to chip in your own Santa Suggestions in comments here or on Twitter, where I am
@neillcameron.

As Christmas has been officially renamed 'New Doctor Who Day' round here, it seemed only right that the old chap should make an appearance.
More Santas tomorrow! Don't forget, if you would like to suggest a Santa you can do so here in the comments, or over on
twitter.

...Toshiro-Mifune-in-Rashomon Santa, to be precise.
Another Santa tomorrow! I am not actually here, I am having my first Sunday off in about 2 years, but I advance-posted this just so you would have a bit of internet nonsense to look at on Sunday. Even though no-one looks at the internet on a Sunday.

(After Frank Miller. Obviously.)
It kind of seems like someone somewhere must almost certainly have done this gag already, but never mind.
A couple of people requested Batman Santa, but I'm afraid I'm in a bit of a rush today and can't remember who. You know who you are, right?
Another Santa tomorrow!

Awwwwwww.
Thanks to
James for suggesting today's Santa, and to everyone else who suggested Santas! you are a bunch of crazy, crazy people, but you are giving me an awfully entertaining December already. Feel free to chip in your own suggestions in comments here or on
Twitter. Another Santa tomorrow - and indeed, every day till New Doctor Who Day (or 'Christmas', as it is still quaintly known in some quarters).
SPECIAL BONUS SANTA DUMBNESS! Here is a thing I made this morning to entertain myself: a comic made entirely out of my twitter avatar. Ladies and Gentlemen: the World's Smallest Webcomic! (Reads from the bottom up):

Last year I decided to draw christmas cards for friends and family, and ended up posting the results here on this blog. I enjoyed it, and thought it would be fun to do it again, but wondered I may have drawn
every possible Santa I could think of already.
And then I thought: what do I need to 'have ideas' for? That's so 2008! We have Twitter for that now.
So yeah, as a fun bloggy Advent-Calendar-of-Awesomeness type thing, I'll be posting a Santa-a-Day till Christmas! Please feel free to give me suggestions for santas. Today's, Pirate Santa, was suggested by
K.D. Bryan, who also suggested:
...Werewolf Santa, Vamp Santa, 007 Santa, Ghost Rider Santa, Luchadora Santa, Engulfed In Flames Santa, Santa Kebabs, Santa Creole, Santa Salad...
More suggestions would be very welcome, in comments here or on
Twitter!
